Redakteur*in (w/m/d) - Investigation

We are looking for an editor (f/m/d) for the programming department in Bonn or Berlin for a limited period of two years from 1 June 2024 or as soon as possible.

Your challenges

  • You will be part of a committed, creative and diverse team of investigative reporters
  • You will identify and investigate topics of international relevance
  • You will work on projects in small teams of investigative reporters within DW and in cooperation with other media/ research networks
  • You will work with open source intelligence as well as human sources
  • You will work on stories that make a difference for audiences in DW's target countries
  • You will have the opportunity to bring in ideas and topics
  • You will be able to constantly develop your technical and journalistic skills

Your qualifications

  • You are a committed and independent lyminded reporter
  • You show initiative and persistence when persuing your research and keep constantly looking for creative and innovative ways to get information
  • You have extensive experience in investigative research and are well connected in the sphere
  • You have experience working in international teams and cross border investigative networks
  • You have extensive experience and the technical skills in the field of open source intelligence like satellite images, open datasets, official and inofficial databases, tracking tools, open source financial information, digital infrastructure and others
  • You have a strong interest in technical developments that benefit investigative work and the willingness and ability to learn the use of new tools as needed
  • You have strong editing skills
  • You are able to formulate your journalistic output in a judicially sound way
  • You have skills in multimedia storytelling and the curiosity and desire to find the best way of telling a story. Experience in video reporting is appreciated
  • You speak English at native speaker level and speak German and at least one other foreign language
