Consent to data processing by Deutsche Welle

1. Consent
By applying for a job at Deutsche Welle (DW), your personal data will be made available to us for the purpose of considering your job application. Your data will also be stored and processed on databases provided by our software partner Haufe-umantis AG.

2. Data protection and confidentiality
Data protection is an important matter for DW. Therefore we, along with our software partner Haufe-umantis AG, have taken all necessary organizational and technical measures to safeguard the confidentiality of your application. All employees of our personnel department - as well as those working for our software partner - are subject to a confidentiality agreement as part of their employment contract in terms of the use of personal data. The secure transmission of your data is ensured through automatic encryption as well as further principles of security applied in all of our data-processing activities in accordance with current technological standards.

3. Use of your personal data
During the application process, personal data, including postal addresses, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers, are stored in our applicants' databases in addition to one’s title and name. Additional documents, such as letters of motivation, CVs along with professional, vocational and training qualifications and work-related references, are also recorded as part of this process.
This data will be stored, evaluated, processed and/or internally forwarded for the sole purpose of your pending application. This data is only accessible to employees of the personnel department and to other persons at DW who have a role in the selection of candidates. Under no circumstances will your data be passed on to outside companies or persons.
Your data may be processed for statistical purposes or reporting but such data would be anonymous and would not be linked to any individual persons or personal data.

4. Interview via video conference
If necessary, an interview will be conducted via video conferencing (e.g. Teams) among other options. Personal information about career paths may be discussed during this interview. The conversation itself, however, will not be recorded.

5. Rights of data subjects
You can file a request for the relevant information regarding what data is being processed for your application through our personnel department.
You can access, change or delete your electronic data at any point during the application process, independent of DW.
In accordance with the statutory provisions, you also have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to withdraw the consent you have given us at any time. The withdrawal of your consent shall not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on your consent before its withdrawal. However, if you withdraw your consent your application can no longer be considered. Please submit such requests to our personnel department.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection laws.

6. Storage and deletion of data
If you should be accepted for a position at DW, your personal data will be included in your personnel file.
If you applied for a position but did not receive a job offer, your data will be stored for six months after the completion of the application process and will then be rendered anonymous. You will not be notified of this change.
If you applied but DW was unable to offer you a suitable position at this time, DW may save your application in a talent database. In this case you will receive a notification. If you do not agree to this or are no longer interested in working for DW, you can delete your data (profile and application) at any time. If your application is assigned to the talent pool, your data will remain stored for 12 months before being deleted.

7. Data disclosure
I agree that my data will be stored for purposes beyond the job I have applied for and that I may be contacted for other future positions that fit my education and job experience.
